Jessica Alba Is America’s Richest Self-Made Woman

Jessica Alba is featured on the cover of Forbes latest issue, joined by a cover line that says: “America’s Richest Self-Made Women“. 20 years after debuting as a teen actress, the star best known for her role in the movie Sin City is now a successful businesswoman. Alba’s Honest Company has recently earned an overall valuation of $1 billion, reports Us Weekly. The magazine estimates Alba’s personal net worth at $200 million, placing her above Rihanna, Jennifer Lawrence, and Katy Perry. The Honest Company was founded by Alba in 2012 and counted $10 million in revenue in its first year.

If we really want to make a difference in the world and people’s health, it’s billions and billions of dollars, not just one,” Alba told Forbes of her business. The company started with a focus on baby products and diapers that are produced with limited harmful chemicals, and are absolutely “safe, eco-friendly, beautiful, convenient, and affordable.” Alba focused on design as well as safety and eco-friendliness. “I felt like my needs weren’t being met as a modern person,” Alba confessed in relation to her daughters Honor, 6, and Haven, 3. “I want beautiful design like everybody else. But it shouldn’t be premium-priced, and it should, of course, be safe… I kind of want them to be cute, and the natural diapers: Why do they have to look like your baby’s wearing a brown bag?
