Ice-T’s Early Life

Ice-T was born in Newark, New Jersey, on February 16, 1958, as Tracy Lauren Marrow to Solomon Marrow and Alice Marrow. Sadly, his mother died of a heart attack when he was 8 years old. He then moved across the country to Crenshaw, Los Angeles, California. His father died four years after his mother died. His aunt, who lived close to the home where he lived with his father, shared the news of his dad’s death with the young boy.

While he was affiliated with the Crips in high school, Ice-T knew he couldn’t live the street life. He graduated from Crenshaw High School and joined the Army. During his time in the Army, he heard “Rappers Delight” by The Sugarhill Gang. That’s when he knew that he wanted to become a gangsta rapper. Fortunately for him, he had experience writing rhymes in high school.

He served four years in the Army and then went back home to South Central, intending to become a hip-hop artist. Instead, he got caught up in the street life and became a pimp and jewel thief. He left that life behind once he carved out his place in the music industry.

Ice-T’s Future

One thing about Ice-T’s entertainment career is that his followers never knew what to expect from him. He moved fluidly from rap to heavy metal and back to rap. His raps had lyrics about violence against cops, for example, in Cop Killer, only for him to become one of the most known cops on the long-running Law & Order: Special Victims Unit series. He’s made his mark on various facets of the entertainment industry, and he isn’t showing any signs of letting up on making his mark.

Ice-T’s future looks amazing. He has the support of his wife, Nicole Coco Austin, and is enjoying life as a father to Chanel. He also has two adult children, Letesha Marrow and Tracy Marrow, Jr. He currently lives in North Bergen, New Jersey.

Ice-T’s net worth is expected to rise thanks to his massive portfolio of income-producing roles and albums. While his bad boy days are a thing of the past, Ice-T still has a hardened exterior earning him more money as an actor.
