$5 Million Per Year

You have known and loved him for years, both as the drummer for the legendary Beatles and as a solo artist.  As one of the two surviving Beatles, Starr still does occasional tours as per his thriving solo career and his concert dates, which include many participating celebrity friends.  Sir Richard Starkey is still friends with former Beatles bandmate Paul McCartney and is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member.  His studio albums continue to sell as fans everywhere adore this man, as does Ringo Starr’s wife, actress Barbara Bach.

Ringo Starr’s Net Worth

The Ringo Starr net worth will soar as long as Ringo is alive.  He enjoys performing with his all-star band whenever the opportunity arises.  His recordings can still be found on the UK albums chart, and he has forever achieved international fame.  Not only was he a hit with the Beatles, but he has had an impressive solo career.

Starr has the distinction of being the richest drummer in the world.  He is also one of only 21 performers inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame more than once.  His second time comes as a result of his solo work.  He is also recognized in the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame as of 1998.

Early Life Richard Starkey

He was born Richard Starkey in Dingle, an inner-city of Liverpool, on July 7, 1940.  His parents were confectioners, Richard Starkey and Elsie Gleave.  Elsie was rather overprotective of little Richy, which ultimately led to his parents’ divorce.  Neither parent was involved in the music industry, and Ringo’s father had little to do with him after the divorce.

As a young child, Ringo suffered from several health ailments that required hospital stays.  He was encouraged to join the hospital band during his stay at the sanatorium.  This band was instrumental in him developing a love of percussion instruments.  In mid-1956, his stepfather, Harry Graves, secured Richy the position of apprentice machinist at a company called Henry Hunt and Son.  They were a Liverpool school equipment manufacturer.  It was there that Ringo became friends with Roy Trafford, who shared his love of music.

Early Musical Career of Ringo Starr

Amongst other genres of bands, young Richy Starkey and Trafford enjoyed playing in a skiffle band.  Then in November of 1959 Starkey joined the band that came to be known as Rory Storm and the Hurricanes.  He also changed his stage name to Ringo Starr.

As of early 1960, the Hurricanes were one of the most formidable Liverpool bands on the circuit.  It was during a stint in Hamburg that Starr met John Lennon, George Harrison, and of course, Paul McCartney in an early version of the Beatles.  At the time, their drummer was Pete Best.  However, they were so impressed with Ringo’s drumming that he was chosen to be the drummer replacing Pete permanently.

The Beatles Days

Initially, under the guidance of Beatles manager Brian Epstein, the band earned increasing popularity in Britain.  Not long after that, they were invited to perform on The Ed Sullivan Show in New York City in the United States.  The Beatles released several studio albums over their years as a band.  With hits such as Act Naturally, Octopus’s Garden, and Hey Jude, the Beatles’ days were treasured by their legions of fans.

Personal Life of Ringo Starr

In February of 1965, Ringo married hairdresser Maureen Cox whom he had met a few years earlier.  They had three children together.  There was Zak Starkey, Jason Starkey, and Lee Starkey.  Due to Starr’s repeated infidelities, the couple divorced in 1975.  Maureen would later pass away from leukemia.

In 1980 Ringo met actress Barbara Bach.  The two fell in love and were married on April 27, 1981.  Ringo’s son Zak Starkey is also a drummer and has performed with the all-star band.  Since those Beatles days, Starr’s solo career has blossomed, as did the solo careers of his fellow band members after the Beatles broke up.  Today Ringo Starr still enjoys performing for his scores of fans throughout the world.  So, do not expect him to retire any time soon.

What Is on the Horizon for Ringo Starr?

Starr likes to invest his money in real estate. In 1971, he purchased the former home of John Lennon, known as Tittenhurst Park at Sunninghill in Berkshire.  The family lived there for a while.  Today, Starr and his wife Barbara Bach divide their time between homes in Cranleigh, England, Los Angeles, and Monte Carlo.

With the news in July 2022 that Ringo Starr releases an EP3 that includes four new tracks, fans of the English musician can expect to see more of him in the days to come.  Not to mention that every time the Beatles Anthology is released, generations of new fans climb aboard the Beatles’ bandwagon.  Will you get to see him in your hometown soon?  That remains to be seen.  Stay tuned for news of the happenings of Ringo Starr.
