Starbucks Forced To Close Shops, You Wouldn’t Believe Why

If you’re not a coffee fan, this headline might not strike you to be as critical as it did for the thousands it affected in the US and Canada on Friday. When computer systems failed in 7,000 Starbucks in the US, and 1,000 in Canada and had to close for the day, Starbucks appeased thirsty customers with free coffee or tea.

Starbucks fans can expect their favorite spot to be back up and running by Saturday morning according to the company, who released a statement today. They explained, “All Starbucks stores in the U.S. and Canada are expected to open for business as usual on Saturday. We apologize to our customers for this inconvenience.” Most patrons credited Starbucks for their polite and quick response to the outage and were happy to receive a free beverage.

Some customers were concerned the outage would mean their credit card information could be compromised. Luckily, company spokesman Jim Olson explained that it was an internal computer system failure and because it was an internal issue, no external breach was involved.
