Rap music reflects its origin in the hip-hop culture of young, urban, working-class African-Americans, its function as the voice of an otherwise underrepresented group. Rap music commercialization in recent decades has become dominant in the mainstream and popular culture worldwide. Being a white rapper recognized in the hip-hop culture can be very challenging, if not ridiculed. Jack Harlow’s playful lyrics and banters bring something unique into the modern rap era. In both of his music and lyrics, they explore themes in brilliant parodies of sex, party, and drug use. The wise use of his wordplay in lyrics is introspective and entertaining.
Jack Harlow’s first major breakthrough was his 2020 single Whats Poppin. Its remix featured other talented rappers and topped the chart at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 with over 240 million views on Youtube and over 1 billion streams on Spotify.
