Man Unable To Claim His $1 Million Powerball Prize

A California man won a $1 million Powerball prize. Unfortunately, he couldn’t claim the prize because he misplaced the Powerball ticket, returning empty-handed from a California Lottery district office. The man had 180 days to claim his prize, and that time ended last Thursday.

In September 2014, the man bought the ticket at Rosemead Supermarket. After watching news reports about himself, he came to know that he had won the prize money. Alex Traverso, spokesman for California Lottery, said that a young man paid visit to their office on Thursday and spoke to Lottery officials to claim his prize. The man informed officials that he had lost the winning ticket.

However, according to the rules of the Powerball Game, the ticket is essential to claim the prize. The man had no choice but to return empty-handed. As of now, his name is kept under wraps. Prize money that is not claimed goes to public schools in California.
