William Shatner Net Worth

Shatner, who will forever be known to legions of fans of the Star Trek series as Captain James T. Kirk, has a long string of credits to his name.  This iconic actor has had other starring roles in past hit television series, as well as being a spokesperson for businesses such as the Priceline negotiator (a travel accommodation website.)  Additionally, he has produced several feature films and other assorted projects and done voice-acting work.  At 91 years of age, Mr. William Shatner shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. 

Early Life of William Shatner

He got bitten by the acting bug early on in his life.  Growing up in Montreal as the son of a clothing manufacturer, the Canadian-born actor began his defining career at age 6 at summer camp.  At 12 years old, he played a pivotal role as Tom Sawyer in a children’s theater in Montreal. 

Later in his youth, William Alan Shatner attended McGill University, where he wrote a college review and did some radio acting on CBC News Canada.  In 1952, he graduated from McGill with a Bachelor of Commerce degree.  Following this, Shatner acted with the Stratford Festival and the Canadian National Repertory Theater in Ottawa. 

According to the star himself, Shatner’s big break came with a stint he did in 1956.  On three hours’ notice, he replaced veteran actor Christopher Plummer as Henry V.  Additional supporting actor roles soon followed, then he was on his way to his ultimate stardom on television.  Who knows what career path he may have followed if it were not for those early days?

Personal Details of William Shatner

As far as his romantic life goes, Bill Shatner has been married four times.  The first was to Canadian actress Gloria Rand, and the union gave him three daughters.  His daughters are Leslie Shatner, Lisabeth Shatner, and Melanie Shatner.  Shatner and Rand got divorced from Elizabeth Shatner in March of 1969. 

The second union was to Marcy Lafferty, the daughter of famous producer Perry Lafferty.  They, too, later divorced.  Then he married Nerine Kidd, and the two remained a couple until her passing in 1999.  William Shatner’s fourth marriage was to Elizabeth Anderson Martin in 2001.  That divorce became finalized in January of 2020.  No children were produced from any of those three unions.  

What Achievements Has William Shatner Enjoyed?

This man is far from a flash in the pan.  Bill Shatner is a two-time Emmy Award winner and a 2005 Golden Globe Award winner.  His kudos do not end there.  As recently as 2015, he won the Voice Arts Icon Award for outstanding work as a voice actor. 

Those are not all.  In addition to several awards as a master equestrian, William Shatner is in a few halls of fame.  The most impressive of those is his 1983 star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a 2000 award on Canada’s Walk of Fame.  Bill was honored with an induction to the Television Hall of Fame in 2006.  Will any other awards be waiting for him in the future?  That remains to be seen.  Since he remains active in show business in one way or another, more awards could be bestowed upon him.  

What Is In Store for William Alan Shatner In the Future?

You might think a man in his early 90s who has done so much would consider retiring.  There is zero evidence he plans to do that.  He currently has a line of books to his credit, for which there have been comic books, trading cards, a live-action show, and movies that have ensued.  All of this has taken place since late September 2021.  Expect more related activities to come about in the days to come.

What about more television series?  One never knows.  This man enjoys working and does not rule out any ventures that he gets the opportunity to participate in.  The Star Trek franchise also remains alive and well.  Perhaps William Shatner will participate in something of that nature in the days ahead.  We shall keep an eye on this man.
