Why You Shouldn’t Buy The Apple Watch Now

If you haven’t heard about Apple’s newest product, The Apple Watch, than you may just live under rock. Everyone is talking about their new product, primarily because it’s new. It will be Apple’s first true piece of wearable technology. But does new always mean better? Or even worth it? The watch will come in three variants; Apple Watch Sport, Apple Watch, and Apple Watch Edition, and will cost you anywhere from $350 to $17,000. No, that is not a typo. The upper end model will cost $17,000 for a watch that isn’t a designer watch.

While the Apple Watch may be appeal at first, here are a few reasons why you should hold off on Apple’s new flagship product. First, wearable technology isn’t really a “thing” yet. As of 2015, it is still a gimmick. You will buy an Apple Watch because it’s “new”, and “cool”, but we can guarantee that you will not wear it everyday, or hate the idea of charging your watch every night. Eventually, you will go back to your old watch.

Additionally, being that this is the first model Apple has ever created, it is almost guaranteed that there will be a few issues with the watch and its software. Also, Apple will see in a couple of years that $350 for the base model is way too high. Lastly, the Apple Watch does not do anything that your phone cannot do, and it will not result in you using your phone less. If anything, you will be checking technology more. The Apple Watch dings for every notification you get, even more than your phone.

Regardless of the facts, Apple will still make a ton of money. In fact, every model of the watch sold out during pre-orders in 6 hours. Our only piece of advice is this; if you are still going to get a watch, get the Sport Edition for $350. The Apple Watch is in fact the future, but we are not there yet. In a few years, Apple will perfect this product, and everyone will have one, for a much more affordable and reasonable price point. Until then, if you want to be “cool” and get the watch, go ahead, but don’t be mad when Apple releases a better and more updated version in the near future.
