Underwater Skeleton Tea Party Found 40 Feet Beneath Colorado River

A young man took to the Colorado River recently near the Arizona and California border to snorkel, but was greeted by a bit of a terrifying surprise. The man happened across two fake skeletons sitting in lawn chairs 40-feet underwater. He reported the discovered skeletons to the La Paz County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, which launched a hunt for what the police thought to be real bodies in the water, reports Huffington Post.

These skeletons, it turned out, were completely fake and had been placed together and bound to large rocks. A diver with the Buckskin Fire Department took video of the entire setting. The sheriff’s office is calling it a tea party. Both skeletons were wearing sunglasses, and one held a sign that said “Bernie” and “dream in the river.”

Lt. Curtis Bagby said, “I don’t think they were trying to set up anything to scare anyone. I think they were gonna try to be funny.” Which makes sense considering how the fake skeletons were placed. Bagby has said the sheriff’s office is considering having some fun with the entire ordeal, and even thought of placing them outside of the office when divers bring them up later in the week.
