Who Is Post Malone?

Austin Richard Post was born in the city of Syracuse, New York, the son of Nicole Frazier Lake and Rich Post. His father was a radio jockey in his teens and exposed Post to a wide range of musical styles, including hip-hop, country, and rock.

Post spent his teenage years attending Grapevine High School, and during those years, he began to dabble in music. At the age of 16, he released his debut mix tape, Young and After Them Riches.

Post attended Tarrant County College after graduating from high school. However, after six months, he pulled out. Post relocated to the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles with friend Jason Probst shortly after quitting college.

He soon met producer FKi, and they began working on tracks together. Post’s first hit single, “White Iverson,” was released in 2015 as a result of their collaboration.

Attention from record labels was rapidly directed to the hip-hop star after Post dropped White Iverson, and it received one million views within a month after its release.

Post originally published the single on SoundCloud, and it quickly became a resounding success. Within the first month, White Iverson received over one million plays. The music video has now received over 970 million views on YouTube.

The song also reached number fourteen on the Billboard Hot 100. In addition, the song was certified 5x Platinum for sales of over 5 million copies.

He secured a recording deal with Republic Records in August 2015. Post has since collaborated with many well-known rappers, including Young Thug, Kanye West, and 50 Cent.

He met Kanye West when he played at Kylie Jenner’s 18th birthday, and Kanye, who liked his music, invited him to work with him on his tune “Fade,” off his album The Life of Pablo.

Later, Post formed a connection with singer Justin Bieber, which ended with Post singing on Justin’s Purpose World Tour. Post debuted his new track “Go Flex” on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 broadcast on April 20, 2016.

Post Malone Live Performance

On May 12, 2016, Post released his first full-length project, a mix tape named August 26, which was a nod to his first album’s release date. Post made his national television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live on June 9, 2016, playing “Go Flex.”

Post called his next album Stoney “mediocre,” despite the success of the track “Congratulations,” featuring Quavo, which was Post’s first Billboard Hot 100 top-ten hit, reaching number eight. Stoney also featured the top 100 songs “I Fall Apart” and “Déjà vu,” both of which featured Justin Bieber and were certified double platinum by the RIAA in October 2017.

Post unveiled the title of his next project, Beerbongs & Bentleys, in February 2017, and in September, released the album’s first song, “Rockstar,” featuring 21 Savage. The song climbed to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and remained there for eight weeks.

Malone debuted a new song named “Psycho” with Ty Dolla Sign on February 20, 2018. The song began at number two and eventually peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Post’s third top-ten hit. Malone announced on April 5, 2018, that Beerbongs & Bentleys would be published on April 27, 2018.

Post later won Top Rap Song at the Billboard Music Awards for “Rockstar,” starring 21 Savage. His third studio album, “Hollywood’s Bleeding,” came out in September 2019 and went straight to number one on the Billboard 200.
