10 Wacky Yoga Poses That Will Blow Your Mind

Oh, dear yoga. We’ve all heard something about it at this point. If you’ve tried it, you may know it as a gentle and relaxing way to calm your nerves and get rid of stress. Or, if you’re a yoga regular, you may know that it can be very challenging and intense. But whether your a newbie or advanced practitioner, you probably haven’t seen many, if any, or these postures before. These 10 yoga poses will blow your mind, and likely inspire you to get on the mat! But be forewarned: these postures are not for beginners!

Pungu Mayurasana – Wounded Peacock

We’re not sure that there’s anything nice about a wounded peacock, unless of course, you’re talking about yoga. This super cool posture takes the utmost abdominal and upper body strength to sustain.

Kala Bhairavasana – Destroyer Of The Universe Pose

Kala Bhairavasana is also known at the “Destroyer of the Universe.” And that’s probably not all that will be destroyed when attempting this pose. Ouch!

Acro Yoga with a Twist

There’s a lot going on here: arms, legs, flexibility, strength. All impressive. But let’s talk about what isn’t going on here. Support. There’s no floor under her, just one foot and a lot of abs holding this woman up!

Yoganidrasana – Yoga Sleep Pose

Even though she has a very peaceful face, we’re still not sure how “sleep” made it in the name of this posture. We’d not only love to see someone sleep while doing this, but also just attempting to get into this pose!

Sirsa Padasana – Head To Foot Pose

There’s back-bending; then there’s this. For Sirsa Padasana, while in headstand, toes are brought down to touch the back of the head. You may need a rib removed before trying this one out.

Double Buddhasana – Di Mario’s Knot

We’re not too sure why someone would be inclined to attempt Double Buddhasana. We’re just wondering, is it safe to have your bottom this close to your face?

Adho Mukha Vrksasana in Padmasana – Handstand Lotus

This posture, known as Handstand Lotus, is supposed to lift your mood and it’s no wonder. Who wouldn’t be jumping with joy if they could strike this pose?!

Yogi Dandasana

It would seem completely normal if her foot was touching the floor. But her torso is twisted away from her leg and her foot is wedged between her upper arm and torso. We wouldn’t be taking deep breaths in this one!

Sayanasana – Scorpion Pose Variation

Ahhh… he looks so peaceful in this picture. Almost like he’s reading a book. We definitely wouldn’t want to try this one on a hard surface. Our elbows hurt just looking at him!

Ganda Bherundasana – Formidable Face Pose

If you can execute Ganda Bherundasana (or the above Double Buddhasana), it’s probably the closest you butt has ever been to your face. Maybe that yogic tradition of showering before practice has a deeper meaning after all.
