Going forward with a decision to climb Everest, one should be prepared for a number of threatening scenarios. From the freezing cold weather itself to a simple injury from climbing, which might turn deadly, those who are set to climb the world’s tallest mount are in for an adrenaline filled trip. However, as exciting as such an endeavor might sound for some, the dangers are real, and that’s exactly what the campers at the Everest base camp learned just a few days ago, when they were hit by an avalanche.

The avalanche was triggered by a massive 7.9-magnitude earthquake in Nepal. Killing as many as 20 climbers and injuring dozens, video footage of the avalanche was captured by a German climber, Jost Kobusch, and went viral on YouTube in mere hours.

The ground is shaking,” Kobusch says, while laughing nervously at the start of the video. However, despite his laughing, the footage is no laughing matter. Showing the terrifying power of nature, it will simply leave you speechless!
