Hannity is an American radio and TV host, conservative political commentator, and published author.

The currently 61 year-old Sean Hannity is of Irish descent. Sean Patrick Hannity was born in December 30, 1961- New York City, U.S. He’s the only son in the family and the youngest of four siblings. He grew up in Franklin Square, in Nassau Country east of New York city.

Hannity’s mother, Lillian worked as a stenographer and a corrections officer at a county jail, and his father, Hugh Hannity was a World War II veteran and family court probation officer. All of his grandparents immigrated to the US from Ireland. As a kid, Hannity worked a paperboy for local newspapers. Hannity attended a Catholic school in Hempstead, Sacred Heart Seminary, and and St. Pius X Preparatory Seminary in Uniondale, New York. In college, he attended two private universities: New York University and Adelphi University. Unfortunately, due to financial difficulty and lack of financial support from his family Hannity did not graduate from either university.

Radio Careers

At 1981, Hannity started his own house-painting business in Rhode Island, after a few years he moved to Santa Barbara, California and worked as a building contractor. Hannity evidently had showed keen interest in radio hosting as he made frequent phone calls to radio shows for an opening position. In 1989, he eventually landed his first radio talk show as a volunteer at the college station of the UC Santa Barbara, California — KBSC-FM, while working as a general contractor at the same time. The radio was cancelled in less than a year due to controversies regarding Hannity’s anti-gay comments such as calling AIDS a ‘gay disease.’

After leaving KBSC-FM on his own Hannity soon got his first full-time job at a radio station WVNN-AM in Athens, Alabama when the station responded to a job wanted advertisement Hannity ran in Radio & Records magazine. In 1992, he moved to another commercial radio station WGST-AM in Atlanta filling a vacant slot from another radio host who’s permanently leaving.

Although Hannity has never had experience as a show host on TV, but his recognition as a radio talk host had the Fox News co-founder Roger Ailes interested. In 1996, he was hired by Ailes to host a TV program on Fox.

On that same year, in 1996 Hannity left WGST and worked for WABC in New Work — the program was mainly focused on conservative political talks with the pundit Sean Hannity inputting his opinions and ideology relating to current issues and politicians. In 2001, The Hannity Show was nationally syndicated on more than 500 stations nationwide.

In 2004, Hannity signed a five-year $25 million contract with ABC Radio. In 2008, ABC radio was acquired by Citadel Communications, with one year left on his contract Hannity agreed to sign another five-year contract for $100 million. In 2018, The Hannity Show was heard by more than 13.5 million listeners each week.

Television Career

On the Fox Channel’s Hannity & Colmes the program was solely focused on American politics. On one side, Hannity presented the conservative viewpoint, and the other side, his co-host, Alan Colmes provided the liberal viewpoint.

After Colmes’ departure from Fox . In early 2009, Hannity took over the time slot and simply called the program ‘Hannity.’

Controversies In & Out the Talk Show World

For 7 years, Hannity hosted a country music-themed show from 2003 to 2010 to raise money for charity. However, complaints were made by an organization that only a tiny amount of the money raised went to target charities. As a result, the charity concerts stopped on that same year.

During Barack Obama’s presidency, Hannity continuously raised doubts about his conspiracy theory on his Fox program that Obama was not born on US soil, even with a certified birth certificate verified by the state of Hawaii. And made a snide remark about offering Obama a one-way ticket back to Kenya.

It’s well-known throughout the media community that Hannity is a pro-Trump supper, if not hardcore or extreme, as evidenced in his show where anything related to Trump got a lot more coverage or extended airtime if Trump is present. For instance, when recorded audio leaked by Access Hollywood where Trump bragged about grabbing women’s private parts, and it’s OK if one is famous, Hannity defended Trump, saying ‘King David had 500 concubines…’ implying it wasn’t a big deal.

Another conspiracy theory of Hannity was about Hillary Clinton. Hannity claimed she has serious medical problems using misrepresented photos of Clinton as proof. Then Hannity climbed up another notch by inviting doctors to his show to discuss Clinton’s health even though the invited guests had never personally medically examined Clinton and made shocking statements about Clinton’s health which all proved to be false.

Another amazing conspiracy theory from Hannity was that the Democrats killed a DNC staff, Seth Rich. As a result, Fox lost several big-name advertisers, including cars.com and Crowne Plaza Hotels. The cringed National Review compared the story to a flat earth video. To further the mess, Seth Rich’s parents sued Fox News, and in 2020 the Rich family received millions of dollars from a settlement from Fox.

In 2020, Hannity was one of the participants in conference calls after the 2020 US presidential election to focus on strategies to challenge the vote counts as what Hannity called ‘a rigged election.

It’s not secret among the White House staff under Trump that he and Hannity have a very close relationship where they spoke on the phone multiple times a week to discuss Hannity’s weekday show, a special investigation by Robert Mueller, and even discussions on evaluating the White House staff.

According to The Washington Post, Hannity “repeatedly embraces storylines that prove inaccurate…”. And to The New Yorker in 2019 that Hannity had “[spewed] baseless conspiracy theories with impunity

After more than 20 years of marriage, the couple announced their divorce in 2020.

After the divorce, Hannity has since dated Fox News host Ainsley Earhardt. In 2001, Hannity purchased a $5.3 million house within a short distance of Trump’s resort, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Florida.
