Robber Arrested For Reporting Potential Fire At The Home She Was Burglarizing


A woman in Kentucky was arrested after trying to prevent a fire, since they reported the possible fire in a house they were robbing. 42-year-old Mary K. Smith was charged for second-degree burglary when she admitted to trying to steal multiple items in the house. According to News outlets, “Officers say she was inside the home to steal prescription medication and cigarette filters. But while she was in there police say she noticed the stove was on and thought it might catch fire, so she called 911.

Firefighters showed up at the scene with Smith still in the house. Questioning why she was even in the house to begin with, they called police after they allowed her to go home. She admitted to stealing medication and cigarette filters, and she did successfully steal a little red wagon from the premises. She is currently being held with a $2,000 bail in the Hopkins County Detention Center.
