Maya Moore was born on June 11, 1989, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the U.S. She was raised by a single mother, Kathryn Moore. Her father, Mike Dabney, had been absent for most of her life since she was a kid. Maya Moore has two half-sisters from her father’s side, Olivia Dabney and Ashley Dabney.
Moore started playing basketball at the age of 3 when her mother mounted a hoop to a door in their apartment. She attended Moreau Heights Elementary School in Missouri, and Collins Hill High School in Georgia. Moore has impressive records while playing basketball for her high school team, she had a 125-3 record with the Collins Hill Eagles, and scored 75 points for the Eagles.
