Manager Fired After Telling Woman Whose Son Is On Life Support She Has To Work

Having a job is vital in today’s world to ensure you have enough money to pay bills and buy all of the essentials, but family should come before any job – but this doesn’t seem to be the case for Crystal Reynolds Fisher’s manager at a Folk Oil gas station.

Crystal Reynolds Fisher, from Albion, Michigan, messaged her manager to let him know that she wouldn’t be able to come into work for a few days because her 18-year-old son had been placed on life support. Fisher’s son is suspected to have sepsis, which is caused when your body is trying to fight an infection but triggers inflammation throughout the body – and can possibly damage multiple organs and can cause death.

After Fisher posted the status on Facebook less than three days ago, she has gone viral. Her post currently has more than 44,000 likes; with more than 26,000 angry faces and over 10,000 wow facesHer post has been shared more than 80,000 times and the outcry from the public has proved to be successful. The manager that Fisher was messaging has since been fired, and Folk Oil have issued a statement which reads;

We’d like to follow up on the issue brought to our attention recently regarding how an employee time off request was handled by one of our managers. We investigated and have found that the situation was handled improperly and without the compassion that we value as a company. For that, we are very sorry.

As a result of this finding, we took quick action and that manager is no longer employed by PS Food Mart. We have also reaffirmed to our employee that she will be able to take all the time off that she needs during this difficult period. We’d like to thank the public for their concern.
