Elon Musk Pledges To Fix Contaminated Water In Flint, Michigan

A Twitter user by the name DylanShaeMusic challenged Elon Musk on Wednesday, saying that “there’s NO WAY you could get clean water to Flint, Michigan” and while the Tweet may have been posted without any notion that Musk would actually help, Musk’s response shocked everybody.

Only a few minutes after Baby D tagged Elon Musk in a Tweet, Musk has responded, pledging that he will fix the water issues in Flint, Michigan, and ensuring all homes have safe water.

Water issues in Flint, Michigan, began in 2014 when city officials decided to turn off the water supply coming from Detroit, and draw water from the Flint River instead. The initial goal was to cut costs, however due to contaminated water, a city-wide health crisis was born. Lead-contaminated water drawn from the Flint River was being sent to people’s homes, and for more than 18 months the water remained untreated.

Residents of Flint had smelly, discolored water coming out of their taps, and thousands of people were poisoned. The contamination also caused quite a few cases of Legionnaires disease, resulting in twelve people dying.

It looks like residents in Flint are in luck, as Musk has pledged to install water filters in any homes, asking people to to message Musk the concentration of contaminants in their water in PPM (parts per million) and PPB (parts per billion).
