Company Bans Customers From Having Sex With Their Robots

A Japanese company that is set to release an emotional robot has banned any of its customers from using the robot for sexual purposes. Aldebaran is so concerned that some may use the new piece of technology in such a way that they will force anyone who buys the robot to sign a contract that prohibits them from having sex with it, creating pornographic apps to run on its software or programming it to stalk other people.

Known as Pepper, the robot has been specially designed to read the emotions of people around it. This allows it to react to moods and offer companionship or comfort to its owner, something that is unique in the robotic industry. However, there are fears that some people will try to use Pepper as an alternative to a partner in a relationship, which has prompted the Japanese company to enforce a ban.

Despite the restrictions, the robot has still proved to be incredibly popular and has already sold out of its initial run of 1,000 units. It will go on sale later in the year and cost $2,000 to buy as well as a further $400 per month in rent.
