Zoo Animals Roam Streets Due To Flood In Georgia

Wild zoo animals are roaming the streets of Tbilisi, which is the capital of Georgia, due to heavy flooding. Officials warned residents to stay indoors in order to avoid contact with the missing, and escaped zoo animals.

Many of the animals that have escaped include wolves, tigers, bears, lions and even a hippopotamus. The heavy flooding has claimed the lives of 12 people. Three of those bodies were found in the zoo. According to the Tbilisi Zoo spokesperson, Mzia Sharashidze, two of those bodies found were those of two zoo employees. Sharashidze stated that the zoo grounds have been turned into a ‘hellish whirlpool’.

Some of the escaped jaguars, tigers, wolves, lions and jackals have been shot dead using Special Forces. Residents have said they’ve spotted a bear clinging on to an air-condition unit on a building. Another resident discovered a hyena on his balcony. Most of the animals that escaped from the zoo have still yet to be caught.
