Olympic Cyclist Tries To Power Toaster With Just His Legs

Uncategorized

Olympic Cyclist Robert Förstemann went head-to-head with a toaster in a challenge for the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts to see if he had enough power in his legs to power the device. 29-year-old Robert Förstemann represented Germany at the 2012 Olympics in both the Team Sprint and Mountain Bike events.

The project was designed to show the dramatic difference in the amount of power that humans use compared to how little they are capable of generating. Even with all of his immense strength, Robert only manages to toast one slice of bread by generating 0.021 kWh. This means that it would take 180 people cycling at the same speed to provide enough electricity to power a car. Maybe we should change power ratings from horse-power to human-power?
