Gay Couple Tricks ‘Homophobic Pizzeria’ Into Catering For Their Wedding

A gay couple recent took things into their own hands and got a bit creative for their wedding after a homophobic pizza restaurant decided to be a little bit nasty to their way of life. The restaurant, following the #Cakegate case in Northern Ireland, announced to the world that they would never cater for a gay wedding because the owner had “Christian beliefs.”

Crystal O’Connor of Memories Pizza in Indiana, made the statement during a recent TV interview she held about the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which passed in March of this year. Her standpoint on gay marriage and her business is completely valid and legal, but that doesn’t mean she hasn’t ruffled some feathers.

Memories Pizza were forced to shut down their establishment following the interview after threats were made. Thanks to a fundraising campaign, however, the restaurant re-opened their doors.

One gay couple, however, were planning on renewing their wedding vows, but they felt some pizza was in order. Robin, a member of Gayco Ensemble, filmed a visit to the shop, acting as “straight and confident” as possible. The staff there agreed to cater, not knowing it was a gay wedding.

One person said: “Memories Pizza! You’ve broke your cherry and catered your first gay wedding. Congratulations!”
