Footballer Sent To Prison For Stomping On An Opponents Leg And Breaking It

Anyone who commits a dangerous foul or deliberately tries to injure an opponent during a sporting competition will usually be punished with a ban or suspension. However, that wasn’t the case for 24-year-old Nathaniel Kerr who has been sentenced to a year in jail after he admitted to stomping on another player and breaking his leg; on purpose.

Stuart Parsons was playing in an amateur football match in August 2014 when Kerr deliberately stamped on his leg, causing a number of breaks. The injury was so bad that it required reconstructive surgery and meant that 30-year-old Parsons had to stay in hospital for almost two months. This prevented him from being able to work and support his family. Fortunately, his teammates carried out a number of charity events to help raise funds for him while he was injured.

This injury has had a catastrophic effect on the victim’s life, meaning he has been unable to work or support his young family,” said PC Louise Spencer, of Greater Manchester Police. “All the while Kerr has shown absolutely no remorse for his vicious attack, calling the victim a ‘wimp’ and verbally abusing him as he was lying in agony on the pitch.
