CW Network Names Star Of Newest Superhero Series

The CW Network has had quite a bit of success when it comes to producing shows based off of DC Comic book heroes. The newest rumored series is one that will be a spinoff from its two existing superhero series, The Flash and Arrow. The newest hero that will take center stage on the network is apparently going to be one of DC’s original female supers. Hawkgirl is the newest potential series, and the CW has reportedly picked the woman for the job.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Ciara Renée is set to headline as Hawkgirl, and this would be her first starring role on the small screen. Renee has had some parts in various television series, but this would be her first really big break in broadcasting. Until now, the actress has been more acquainted with Broadway thanks to roles in Big Fish and Pippin in the last year alone.

In the CW network’s version of Hawkgirl, Renee will play the titular character, whose real name is Kendra Saunders. Saunders will find she has been reincarnated over and over again and she has the ability to sprout giant hawk-like wings out of her back when she’s provoked. While there isn’t much information out there about the spinoff just yet, several guest stars who have made appearances in both The Flash and Arrow such as Dominic Purcell, Brandon Routh, Wentworth Miller, Victor Garber, and Caity Lotz will also turn up in the new series.
