However, most of Usher’s fortune has come from a prominent music career that opened many other doors for him over the years. Let’s explore his net worth and everything else you need to know about this iconic musician of all time.

What is Usher Net Worth?

Usher’s net worth is $210 million as of this year, and an annual salary of $15 million.

Usher has built most of his fortune through his music career and other ventures such as acting and business. He has sold over 40 million albums worldwide and over 20 million in the US and is considered one of the most successful male artists in the R&B world.

Usher also considers himself an entrepreneur, with most of his business ventures being successful, as we’ll explore later in this article.

Who is Usher?

Usher Raymond IV, better known as Usher, was born on October 14th, 1978, in Dallas, Texas, but was raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  His parents, Jonetta Patton and Usher Raymond III recognized his vocal performance and pushed him to nurture it. He started singing at the local church in Chattanooga before moving to Atlanta, Georgia, to further his career. While in Atlanta, he attended North Springs High School. His mother left work to help manage his career when he started recording music professionally when he was young.

Usher married Tameka Foster in 2007 and had two kids, Usher Raymond V ‘Cinco’ and Navy Ely Raymond. Usher was also a stepfather to three of Tameka’s kids from previous engagements. They later got divorced in 2009.

Usher got married again to his long-time girlfriend, Grace Miguel. They did this secretly while on vacation in Cuba in 2015. He later confirmed their marriage on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Sadly, the marriage only lasted about three years, with the couple filing for divorce in 2018.

Usher is currently dating Jenn Goicoechea, who he’s been dating since 2019. They welcomed their baby girl in 2020, Sovereign Bo Raymond, and later got a second child in 2021, Sire Castrillo Raymond. They are a big, happy family to date.

Usher’s Career

Usher began his music career when he was just nine years old. It was during this time that his parents discovered his vocal talent and decided to explore and support it. Moving to Atlanta was to give their son a better opportunity. Usher’s door of opportunity opened when a LaFace Records representative saw his performance at a talent show, Star Search, and decided to give him a chance. Usher was signed to the label by L. A Reid, who kicked off his music career. LaFace Records, alongside co-executive producer Sean P Diddy released Usher’s self-titled debut album in 1994 when he was only 15 years old. He hit off at number 25 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and from there, the sky was the limit.

Usher befriended Jermaine Dupri, with whom he co-wrote a couple of love songs for his second album, My Way, released in 1997. The album’s single, You Make Me Wanna, achieved gold and platinum status. The album is certified six-time platinum by the  Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Usher released his third album, 8701, in 2001. The top two singles, U Got it Bad and U Remind Me, made it to the Billboard Hot 100 for weeks. The album is certified four-time platinum.

Usher’s fourth album, Confessions, was released in 2004 and was the peak of his career. He was the first artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 with four singles. Confessions won many awards, including two MTV Video Music Awards, four American Music Awards, and two MTV Europe Music Awards. In addition, Usher became Artist of the Year at the Billboard Music Awards in 2004.

Usher has released several albums that have awarded him five Grammy Awards and more in the music world.

Other Ventures

Usher made his debut in acting in a sitcom called Moesha. He has featured in films such as The Faculty, In The Mix, and She’s All That.

Together with Scooter Braun, they co-founded a record company, Raymond Braun Media Group (RBMG). The company saw the debut of the then teenager and music legend Justin Bieber.

Apart from artistry, Usher has also ventured into the restaurant industry. He is also a co-owner at Tidal, a global music streaming service.

Usher is also a shareholder in the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team, making him the third top artist to be a co-owner of an NBA professional team.

He has also had endorsements with many big companies, such as MasterCard, Samsung, Pepsi, and Microsoft, for their products.

Philanthropy

Usher founded New Look, a non-profit organization that seeks to give youths a new look towards education and real-life experiences. New Look has its pillars on education, talent, career, and service. He was honored with the Freedom Award for his philanthropic efforts with the New Look by the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis.

Following Hurricane Katrina, Usher started Project Restart, which was to help over 700 families to rebuild after they were affected by the hurricane. In addition to his monumental endeavor, he received the key to New Orleans City (a medieval tradition meant to show trust and honor to the recipient).

He also visited his roots in Chattanooga, TN. This is where he grew up, before moving to Atlanta. He visited a couple of places around Chattanooga, inspiring youths.

These are just a few of Usher’s philanthropic works over the years. He has even partnered with other music artists to sponsor Black colleges and university scholarships.
