Check Out How L.A. Is Protecting It’s Water Supply

I’m sure we all know that California is having a bit of a drought issue. The city of Los Angeles is trying to protect whatever water they have left by using what they’re calling “shade balls.” These shade balls have been used before, such as in the Ivanhoe Reservoir in 2008, and help reduce evaporation of the water supply and block the sun’s UV rays from causing chemical reactions in the water.

The city has dumped millions of these shade balls into city reservoirs in an effort to protect the water. Hopefully this will provide positive results so projects like these in the future reduce the risk of drought. Check out the video below.
