Cake better, as you can probably imagine, is generally only used to bake cakes. While people can come up with very imaginative cake recipes, you most likely did not realize that you can use cake mixture to create all sorts of different foods.

With a bit of creative thinking, it is possible to come up with a variety of unique recipes that are not just inventive but also incredibly tasty. So take a look at this list of delicious foods and see what it is possible to make with cake mix.

Perfect for those who want to create a special birthday treat for children at a party.

Ingredients: 1.5 cups of melted almond bark, 1/4 cup of vegetable shortening, 1.5 cup of white or yellow cake mix, 6 cups popcorn and 1/4 cup of sprinkles.

Directions: Melt all of the almond bark in a microwave oven, making sure to stir every 30 seconds until it’s fully melted. Add vegetable shortening to the almond bark and then either stir or microwave to ensure it has also melted. Mix in the cake batter and then pour the mixture over the popped popcorn. Decorate with sprinkles an then the coating the cool and harden before serving.

Using funfetti cake mix, you can create quick and tasty cheesecake treats.

Ingredients: 3/4 package of birthday cake Oreos, 2 tablespoons melted butter, 8 oz. cream cheese, 8 oz. container whipping topping, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, 5 tablespoon milk, 1 cup cake mix and 1/2 cup of sprinkles.

Directions: Crush the Oreos together and mix them with melted butter before dividing them into eight separate 8 oz mason jars. Whip the vanilla cake mix, milk, cheese and whipping topping together until it is smooth and then mix in funfetti gently. Share the mixture into the various mason jars and then refrigerate for at least four hours. Top with your choice of topping — such as whipped cream, cherries or sprinkles.

Frying cake mixture might not sound like a good idea at first, but putting it together with fried chicken creates a colorful meal.

Ingredients: Chicken (either whole or separate servings), 1/4 cup of flour, one egg, red velvet cake crumbs and vegetable oil

Directions: Separate the flour, egg and cake crumbs into three dishes and then coat the various pieces of chicken with flour, then egg before coating them with the cake crumbs. Then you simply need to fry the chicken for around five minutes per side.

Directions: Heat the griddle to medium-high, grease with either cooking spray or vegetable oil. Mix all the pancake ingredients together until they are thoroughly blended and then pour onto the griddle. Cook the pancakes until the edges are dry and then glaze with a mixture of suger, milk and vanilla and add sprinkles as desired.

The berry white chocolate crumble bar recipe involves fruit and a unique texture to form a beautiful dessert.

Ingredients: 3/4 cups cake mix (of any color), 1 cup old fashioned whole rolled oats, 1/2 cup softened butter, 1 large egg, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 cups berries, 1/4 cup white chocolate chips, 1/4 cup sweetened shredded coconut flakes and 1 can sweetened condensed milk.

Directions: Mix the cake batter, oats, butter, egg, vanilla together until it is kneaded together. Then press the dough into a 350°F pre-heated pan. These extra fluffy waffles are mixed with cake batter to give a sugary glaze that provides a sweet breakfast.

Ingredients: 1.25 cup of all purpose flour, 1.25 of funfetti cake mix, 3 teaspoons baking powder, 2 tablespoons sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 1.25 cups milk, 1 egg, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract and 2 tablespoons sprinkles.

Directions: Whisk together flour, cake mix, baking powder, sugar and salt in a medium sized bowl. Create a well in the middle of the mix in the bowl and then add milk, egg, olive oil and vanilla. Whisk the entire mix together until it is smooth. You can also mix in sprinkles as desired. Pre-heat waffle maker until hot (as directed by the machine’s instructions) then pour mixture into the maker, baking until the waffles are brown. Glaze the waffles with a mix of sugar, funfetti cake mix, milk and vanilla extract that have been whisked until smooth.

Cake Mix Rice Krispy Cakes

Rice Krispy Cakes are already delicious, butt adding some cake batter into the mix just makes them all that more tasty.

Ingredients: 3 tablespoons butter, 1/2 tablespoon vanilla, one 10 oz. bag mini marshmallows, 1/3 cup vanilla cake mix, 6 cups Rice Krispies, 1/4 cup rainbow sprinkles.

Directions: Melt the butter and add the vanilla extract, taking care to stir and not burn, then mix in marshmallows. Continue to stir mixture as it melts in a low heated pan and once it is fully melted, add the cake mix. Then pour in the Rice Krispies and continue to stir mixture, adding sprinkles as desired. Spoon the mix onto greased baking dish and spread it out and add further sprinkles. Let the mix cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Chocolate Cake Mix Ice Cream

Substituting ready-to-use chocolate cake batter for more traditional ingredients allows for some amazing ice cream to be made.

Ingredients: 1 cup heavy cream, 1 cup milk, 1/4 cup sugar, 2-3 tablespoons sprinkles and 3/4 cup dry dark chocolate cake mix.

Directions: Mix together the cream, milk, sugar and cake batter in a blender so that it is smooth. Churn the mixture in an ice cream maker until it is frozen and creamy (time will depend on individual appliances), then add the mix to a cold ice cream container and stir in sprinkles. Cover the container and leave in the freezer for at least four hours before serving.

Piña Colada Cake Mix Cookies

These special cookies include a number of different ingredients, including cake mix, coconut, and pineapple to create a delicious white cookie.

Ingredients: 1 box of white cake mix, 1 stick softened butter, 2 eggs, 8 oz. crushed pineapples, 1 teaspoon coconut extract and 2 tablespoons plain flour.

Directions: Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl together until they are thoroughly mixed. Place the mix onto a baking sheet and then bake at 350°F in an oven for between 8 and 10 minutes. Allow the cookie mix to cool and then glaze with powdered sugar, pineapple juice and coconut extract. Finally, slice cookies as desired.

Ideal for parties, the colorful and tasty dip can be used to accompany biscuits and brownies. The ingredients even mean that it isn’t that bad for you.

Ingredients: 1 pack of funfetti cake mix, 2 cups vanilla non-fat yogurt, 1.5 cups cool whip, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and 2 tablespoons rainbow sprinkles.

Directions: Blend all of the ingredients together in an electric mixer until it is smooth and consistent. Take care to make sure the dip is still relatively thick. Remove from blender and put the mixture in a container and then refrigerate for at least 2 hours. You can then serve with crackers.

Ingredients: 4 oz. baking chocolate, 3/4 cup melted butter, 2 cups sugar, 3 eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 tablespoons espresso coffee, 1 cup plain flour, 1/4 cup sprinkles and 15 birthday Oreo cookies.

Directions: Pre-heat oven to 350 °F and prepare pan with a lining of foil, make sure to grease foil with your choice of vegetable oil or cooking spray. Microwave the chocolate and butter together to melt while continually stirring the mixture and then slowly add eggs, sugar and vanilla extract. Then stir flour into the mix but be careful not to overmix and then add in sprinkles. Put half the batter onto the foil and add Oreos on top of the mix before placing the remaining brownie batter on top of the Oreos. Bake for around 26 minutes and then allow to cool for at least an hour before serving.

This very easy recipe lets you bake delicious donuts that are that bit healthier thanks to the fact that they are not fried.

Ingredients: 1 cup plain flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, 1/4 cup milk, 1/4 cup Greek yogurt, 1 large egg, 2 tablespoons butter, 1.5 vanilla extract and ½ rainbow sprinkles.

Directions: Preheat oven to 350 °F and prepare pan by spraying with any non-stick cooking spray. Then whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg and sugar together in a bowl and set aside. Meanwhile, whisk milk, yoghurt and egg until the mixture is smooth and then add melted butter and vanilla. Continue whisking until the ingredients are fully mixed. Pour the sets of mixtures together and mix until they have just combined and then pour the batter into donut cups. Bake the donuts for around 10 minutes and allow them to cool before glazing.

This isn’t combining cake batter with another food to create something new but rather an incredible looking cake. Follow this recipe to get the perfect rainbow cake.

Ingredients: 2.25 cups cake flour, 1 cup whole milk, at room temperature, 6 large egg whites, 2 teaspoons almond extract, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1.75 cups granulated sugar, 4 teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon table salt, 12 tablespoons unsalted butter and six different food dyes.

Directions: Mix together milk, egg whites and extracts in a 2 cup glass measure. Mix the ingredients with a fork until they are fully blended and then add cake batter, sugar, baking powder and salt, ensuing to beat at a slow speed. Continue by pouring in melted butter and then add milk into mixture, leaving 1/2 cup of milk remaining. Beat the mixture at a medium speed for 90 seconds, add remaining milk and then beat for another 30 seconds. Divide up the mixture into six bowls, add the various colors into each bowl separately and pour each mixture onto an individual cake pan. Cook each part for 15 to 25 minutes and allow them to rest for 3 minutes. Layers can then be added to each other, with the icing added after the cake layers have been stuck together using buttercream.

No-bake cake mix truffles are not only delicious but they look cute and can be made relatively easily.

Ingredients: 1/2 cup unsalted butter, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1.5 cups flour, 1/8 teaspoon salt, 1 cup yellow cake mix, dry, 3 tablespoon milk, more if needed to reach dough consistency, 2 tablespoon sprinkles and almond bark

Directions: Beat the butter and sugar together in a large bowl and then continue to beat in the vanilla until it is thoroughly mixed. Add the cake mix, flour, salt and vanilla into the butter and sugar, ensuring the ingredients are mixed together completely. Pour in the milk and then stir sprinkles and roll the resulting dough into one inch balls. Place the balls on wax paper and chill them in a freezer for 15 minutes. Once fully chilled, melt almond bark in a microwave, being careful not to let it burn, and then dip the balls into the melted bark. Refrigerate to harden and keep chilled until serving.

Cake Batter Pull Bread

A different take on the traditional cake, the cake batter pull bread is not only tasty but easy to share thanks to its crumbly nature.

Ingredients: 1 round, unsliced loaf of sour dough bread, 1/2 cup butter melted (add more as needed), 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup yellow cake mix dry, 1/4 tsp. cinnamon, 1/4 cup color sprinkles, 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 oz. cream cheese softened, 1 tsp. vanilla and 2-3 tablespoons of milk.

Directions: Slice the bread to make 1 inch sections ensuring that you do not cut all the way through the loaf so that the bread pieces separate. Mix brown sugar, cake mix and cinnamon into a bowl and set it aside. Then pour melted butter in each section of the bread. Continue by pouring the cake mix from the bowl into the bread sections and bake at 350 °F for 25 minutes. Glaze the bread after baking with a mix of powdered sugar, cream cheese, vanilla and milk.

Double Chocolate Cake Mix Cookies

With this recipe, you get all the goodness of cake and cookies in one treat as well as a double helping of chocolate.

Ingredients: 1/2 cup butter, 1 egg, 1 packet instant coffee dissolved in 2 tablespoons water, 1 tablespoons oil, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, 1 box chocolate cake mix, 1.5 cup chocolate chip and 1.5 cup white chocolate chips.

Directions: Preheat oven to 350 °F and then beat together butter and egg. Then add in the coffee, oil and vanilla and beat until it is thoroughly mixed. Add the cake mix incrementally, beating slowly until it is combined with the other ingredients. Finally, stir in the chocolate chips and roll balls out of the mixture and then bake for between 7 and 10 minutes. Allow them to cool before serving.

Red Velvet Cinnamon Rolls

The red velvet cake mix gives the cinnamon rolls a very distinctive color as well as a unique taste.

Ingredients: 1 box of red velvet cake mix, 2 envelopes of active dry yeast, 2.5 cups warm water, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 5 cups plain flour, 3 sticks softened butter, 1 cup packed dark brown sugar, 1 cup granulated white sugar, 3 cups powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract and 2 packages of cream cheese.

Directions: Mix together dry yeast with warm water and stir until the yeast has dissolved. Add in the cake mix, flour, vanilla extract and salt and knead the dough for a minute and then leave it to rise in a larger bowl for an hour. Using flour, turn out the dough and shape it into a ball before rolling it into a rectangular shape. Add butter to the top of the dough and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Continue by slicing the dough into smaller pieces so that you have around 24 individual rolls. Allow rolls to rise further for 30 minutes before baking at 350 °F for 15 minutes. While baking, create cream cheese frosting by mixing butter and powdered sugar with vanilla and a pinch of salt. Add in softened cream cheese while mixing and then spread on the warm rolls once they have been removed from oven.
