Woman Was Fired For Attending A Festival, Received Multiple Work Offers Already

Emily Culhane, a restaurant worker, was let go from her job after she decided to attend the Electric Picnic festival. Her story has gone viral after she posted the email she received from her former employer on the Electric Picnic Facebook page earlier this week.

Culhane’s boss told her not to go to the festival even though she had already spent €220 on the ticket. She decided, after spending the money, that she would go anyway. She was then notified that her P45 was in the mail already.

Speaking about the incident, Emily said: “When I asked for the time off she said, ‘If you cared about your job you would sell your ticket’. I panicked and said, ‘I don’t think I’ll do that’. She just said again that if I cared I would sell them. That was on Saturday and I got an email from them on Tuesday. I wasn’t rostered to work or anything, she hadn’t made the roster. People online have been saying I probably didn’t show up but sure it hasn’t even happened yet. The email just said, ‘Here is your payslip and the P45 will be sent out in the morning.”

Ever since her story went viral, Emily has been receiving numerous job offers, leading to new work for her.
