As the furor over Planned Parenthood intensifies, some republicans have even started floating the idea of shutting down the government if they cannot find a way to defund the organization. Apparently this idea has become so popular that reporters have had to ask Senator Majority leader Mitch McConnell whether he would support the move. In comments that have to be seen as good news for anyone with common sense, the Senator from Kentucky said in no uncertain terms that he wouldn’t support such a move.

As the Huffington Post reported, he respondedThere’s an old Kentucky saying that there’s no education in the second kick of a mule. We’ve been down this path before,” McConnell said. “This is a tactic that’s been tried going back to the ’90s, frequently by Republican majorities that always have the same ending.
