This Short Star Wars Film Should Hold You Over Until Episode 7

The new Star Wars film doesn’t come out until the end of the year, so fans are clamoring for anything Star Wars to tide them over. This seven-and-a-half-minute short that was posted on YouTube should do the trick. It was created by one fan over the course of four years, but the quality is on par with most animated feature films.

Paul Michael Johnson, the sole creator of the film, choose to animate the film with an 80’s anime style similar to Patlabor, Mobile Suit Gundam, and other classic anime shows. Johnson also incorporated an ’80s style soundtrack and used sound effects from the fan favorite Star Wars game TIE Fighter. This is a must watch for any Star Wars fan. Rather than focus on the good guys it focuses on characters who are associated with the Empire.

Currently, Disney is laying out the groundwork for a cohesive Star Wars universe. They would be wise to check this video out. It’s highly unlikely that they’ll make a movie that is about the Empire, but if they’re trying to expand their movie universe, it wouldn’t hurt.
