South Korean President Says Donald Trump Should Get Nobel Peace Prize

South Korean President Moon Jai-In has said that Donald Trump should receive a Nobel Peace Prize for ending the conflict between North and South Korea, and getting North Korea to end their nuclear weapons program. “President Trump should win the Nobel Peace Prize. What we need is only peace,” Moon said.

Moon previously said that Trump “deserves big credit for bringing about the inter-Korean talks”, and that he was confident that peace between the North and South could be achieved. Tensions have been high between the two nations since 1950, which marked the end of the Korean war. North Korea’s Supreme Leader Kim Jong-Un and Moon Jai-In met on Friday, pledging to officially end the conflict.

In an attempt to start the process off, South Korea said that they’ll remove the loudspeakers that are placed on the border of the two countries, which have been blasting propaganda for decades – including a mix of music, news, and criticism of North Korea. The loudspeakers were turned off ahead of Friday’s summit, and South Korea will begin to remove them shortly.

North Korea are changing their timezone back to match that of South Korea, as they set their clocks back 30-minutes behind the South in 2015 to mark 70 years of independence from Japan. Kim has also said that the North will be shutting down their nuclear test site this month, inviting journalists and experts from South Korea and the United States.
