South Korea Deports Russian Military Athletes After Drunken Fight On Plane

Nine Russian athletes, who are part of the country’s military forces, have been deported from South Korea and sent back to their homeland after they were allegedly involved in a drunken fight on board a flight. According to police, the five men and four women were due to take part in the CISM World Military Games but now that they have been deported, it leaves Russia with just eight athletes to compete in the event.

The Russian personnel include serving soldiers, trainer and journalists and were arrested when they landed at Incheon airport in South Korea for breaking aviation security law. Reports state that the group became aggressive when cabin crew on board the flight refused to serve them any more alcohol.

The CISM World Military Games is a large competition organized to allow military personnel from around the world to compete against each other in various sports. It is composed of 24 different disciplines and sees 7,000 athletes from 117 countries take part.
