Shocking Footage Of Huge Explosion In China Shared By Tianjin Residents

Earlier this week, a massive explosion in the port city of Tianjin, China, took the lives of over 56 people to date and injured over 720. A number of residents managed to capture video footage of the tragic event with the most popular ones quickly spreading the news of the explosion over Weibo, China’s Twitter.

Until today, most videos were showing the explosion as seen from miles away in shaky, low-quality videos. However, Daniel Van Duren from YouTube managed to share what may very well be the most shocking of them all, as he managed to capture the explosion from a 33 story building that was just a few blocks away. “I think this may be a gas station or something,” a woman’s voice can be heard on the background, before the small fire turns into a huge fireball of flames.

As of now, it is uncertain what chemicals were being stored at the warehouse, which blew up, because the facility itself was a temporary storage facility and materials were kept there briefly. Currently, 36 hours after the blast, fires are still burning at the site as firefighting teams try to take control of the situation. Our prayers go to everyone in Tianjin and we hope the tragic situation gets resolved as soon as possible.
