Olivia Wilde Returning For Third Installment Of Tron
Ever since the incredible worldwide $400 million success of Tron: Legacy, Disney has been making plans to expand on the cult film universe by adding a third movie to the ranks of the popular story about a physically inhabitable digital universe. The original film, released in 1982, starred Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn, a programmer who gets trapped in this digital world and is forced to participate in gladiator-style games for the amusement of the anthropomorphized computer programs. The 2010 sequel finds Flynn trapped in the digital universe again, trying to escape this time with the help of his son Sam, played by Garrett Hedlund.
While Hedlund was always in talks of reprising his lead role for Tron 3, it was just recently announced that his Tron: Legacy co-star Olivia Wilde has signed on to reprise her role as Quorra, a computer-algorithm-turned-human in the new film. Plot details for the third film have not yet been released, and there is no news as to whether Bridges or Bruce Boxleitner – who portrayed both Kevin Flynn’s friend Alan Bradley as well as title character Tron in both films – will be returning for the third installment.
