Moped Riders Threaten Motorists With Hammer And Zombie Knife Before Robbing Them

Two people were sitting in a Mazda RX5 on Saturday evening at approximately 6.30 p.m. when four men on two mopeds rode up either side of the vehicle. One of the men had a ‘zombie style’ knife while another one carried a hammer. The men demanded that the two occupants of the RX5 hand over their watches, while one of the men jumped on the RX5’s bonnet.

The man on the bonnet began kicking the windscreen twice before shattering it. The men then took off with the victims’ watches, leaving with a 27-year-old occupant with a cut on his arm. The incident occurred on the A406 North Circular Road in Finchley, approximately 8 miles north of London.

This is one of the latest incidents involving moped gangs in London, and comes after some thugs attacked a motorist in Birmingham on Friday June 1st with machetes. Another incident involved comedian Michael McIntyre, after his £15,000 Rolex watch was stolen while he was picking up his 10-year-old son from school.

Police have said that violent crime is up in 42 out of the 43 force areas, with some areas having an increase in violent crime by more than 50 percent. Regarding the robbery on the occupants of the Mazda RX5, detectives are currently investigating however no arrests have been made. DC Oliver Kotis from Barnet CID released a statement, saying

“This was a shocking attack on innocent people in broad daylight. We are determined to bring these violent criminals to justice, but we need the help of the community to find and arrest these people.

Anyone who either witnessed this crime, was in the area and has dashcam footage, or anyone with any information should contact police immediately. Your information could be vital in bringing these dangerous men to justice.”
