Man Pleas Guilty After Clogging Casino’s Toilet With Counterfeit Chips

Afraid of a scheme being exposed, a man tried to flush illegal chips down a toilet in Atlantic City and was still caught. Christian Lusardi of Fayetteville, North Carolina, brought $2.7 million worth of counterfeit chips to a poker tournament held in 2014. Yahoo details how the chips were found: “The chips were discovered on Jan. 16, 2014, two days after the Borgata Casino in Atlantic City began hosting its “Winter Poker Open” where Lusardi was a participant and where $800,000 of fake chips with a bogus Borgata trademark had been used.”

Lusardi has plead guilty for trademark counterfeiting and criminal mischief. He will be sentenced October 22nd, where he’s expected to receive a five-year sentence as part of the plea deal. The counterfeiter will also have to pay the Borgata Casino $463,540 in lost revenue since the tournament was cancelled a few days after the discovery of the chips, and Harrah’s Casino $9,455 for damage to their plumbing system.
