Germanwings Pilot Sought Treatment For Eye Problems

As more details about the Germanwings crash continue to be found, the tragedy continues to look as though it was completely preventable. Just a few days ago, it was reported that the co-pilot Andreas Lubitz crashed the plane on purpose. Now it appears Lubitz had hidden a number of physical or emotional problems from Germanwings.

The New York Times is now reporting that Lubitz apparently sought treatment for eyesight problems he felt would have kept him from flying. Officials with knowledge of the investigation have confirmed that Lubitz was seeking treatment though there are questions about whether or not the co-pilot’s problems were actually physical. Some have claimed Lubitz clearly had mental problems, and the eyesight problems might have been psychosomatic.

Some of the things that have been pushed forward since the incident are tidbits that may never be proven. Andreas Lubitz didn’t let anyone know exactly why he drove the plane into the French Alps. On the other hand, the investigation has been turning up new factoids every day. There are some people close to the investigation who are even putting forth the theory that the co-pilot may have committed his act of mass murder because he had just broken up with his girlfriend.
