Dan Fredinburg, Ex-Boyfriend Of Sophia Bush, Confirmed Dead After Nepal’s Earthquake

On Saturday, April 25th, Nepal experienced a powerful earthquake, with the death toll surpassing 1,900. As a result of this 7.8 magnitude earthquake, there have been several avalanches on Mount Everest. As a result of these avalanches, seventeen climbers lost their lives. Among those climbers on Everest who lost their lives was actress Sophia Bush’s ex-boyfriend, Dan Fredinburg, a Google executive in California.

Fredinburg is the first American to be confirmed dead from the tragic disaster. His expedition team, Jagged Edge, released a statement on their website today, and shared, “It is with the greatest sorrow that we report the death of one of our Everest team members, Daniel Fredinburg. Two other team members have non-life threatening injuries, as a result of the avalanche that struck base camp during the earthquake and its aftershocks.”

Sophia Bush, 32, best known for her roles on One Tree Hill, and Chicago P.D., dated Fredinburg until February of 2014. She shared a tear-inducing Instagram post today that included a heartfelt caption recounting her time and feelings about Fredinburg. Part of the post read, “There are no adequate words. Today I find myself attempting to pick up the pieces of my heart that have broken into such tiny shards, I’ll likely never find them all. Today I, and so many of my loved ones, lost an incredible friend.”

Fredinburg’s sister has now confirmed the official cause of his death was a head-wound he sustained during the avalanche.
