CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Coming To An End This Year

This is the time of year when networks make announcements about which of their shows are getting renewed as well as which of their shows are getting cancelled. While Fox recently announced that it will be putting to pasture its massive cult mega-hit American Idol, TV network CBS appears to also be retiring another iconic twenty-first century television phenomenon. Now the beloved show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, which aired its first episode back in 2000, will also be coming to an end this year after its fifteenth season on air.

Many likely assumed that despite the show’s ratings struggle it would be renewed, so the cancellation was likely unexpected by most. The show will say its final farewells in two stages; the show will air its final episode and will then be followed with a two-hour TV movie that will be airing on September 27th. The TV movie will be used as a platform to transition Ted Danson’s character D.B. Russell to tangent show CSI: Cyber. William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger are set to make appearances are set to return as fan favorites Gil Grissom and Catherine Willows.
