Chris Farley Voiceover Emerges In Lost ‘Shrek’ Footage

Among some of Mike Myers’ most famous works in his hilarious career is being the voice of Shrek. His voice is unmistakable, even with the clever accent he’s used in various Austin Powers movies and in his Saturday Night Live career. But what if everyone’s favorite green ogre had a different voice? There may have been a different celebrity bringing Shrek to life after some lost video footage emerged from 1997.

Chris Farley can be heard in this 2 and 1/2 minute clip voicing Shrek while he’s having a conversation with Donkey (voiced by Eddie Murphy). The footage is dated back in the same year that Farley tragically died of a drug overdose. Similar to Myers’ hilarious accent, Farley had a similar take and it was unmistakably him doing the voiceover. The original Shrek movie debuted in 2001 and Myers voiced the ogre in subsequent official sequels.
