A Small Step For Hillary Clinton, A Giant Leap for Womankind

Hillary Clinton officially launched her 2016 presidential campaign. With a two-minute campaign video, announced that once again, she will be running for president.

“I’m getting ready to do something, too. I’m running for president,” Clinton says.

She is a prominent governmental and social figure, a former first lady, senator, secretary of state, and an advocate for women’s rights.

Although it comes as no surprise that she is running again, if she does win the Democratic nomination, it will be the first time either of the two major U.S. political parties will run a female presidential candidate. This is huge news for women across the United States, and the world. Whether or not you’re a self-declared feminist, to see a woman become the leader of one of the greatest countries in the free world would be undeniably inspirational.

Clinton did not have such a successful campaign in 2007, losing the Democratic bid to Obama, who eventually won the presidency. She worked as secretary of state from 2009-2013, and Obama said, “she was an outstanding secretary of state. She is my friend. I think she would be an excellent president. And I’m not on the ballot.”

With support from the current president, and a shift in priorities this time around, Clinton is hoping for support from the middle-class citizens of America. It would certainly be interesting to see the shift in culture if she were to win the Democratic bid, as well as the presidential campaign.

I am a woman, and I approve of this message Hillary.
