World Record Set When 66 People Ride One Surfboard At The Same Time

The mission was to break the Guinness World Record and that is exactly what 66 surfers in California did over the weekend, as they all rode one surfboard for 12 seconds. The surfers rode on a custom-built 42-foot-long surfboard off the shore in Huntington Beach and it was enough to break the record for “Most People Riding a Surfboard at Once.

Tim Stamps, one of the surfers, said: “It was crowded, it was scary, but we had to focus. We were all happy, everyone was screaming and yelling. It was a good time.” This all took place at the International Surfing Day festivities in Huntington Beach and there were over 5,000 people on the beach watching the record-breaking moment. The previous record was set in Queensland, Australia, where 47 surfers road a 39-foot board for 10 seconds. That was back on March 5th, 2005.

They were also looking to break the record for “World’s Largest Surfboard,” but that record attempt remained unconfirmed. The official record-holding surfboard is 39-feet and 4-inches.
