Undercover Investigators Managed To Smuggle Weapons Through Airport Security 95% Of The Time

Have you ever thought about smuggling something illegal through airport security checks as they aren’t really that thorough? Turns out if you try, you will probably succeed, ABC News reports. An internal investigation of the Transportation Security Administration recently attempted, seventy times, to smuggle banned weapons through airport security, at numerous large airports across the U.S. Of these seventy attempts, 67 were successful! Yes, the investigators were able to smuggle banned weapons and mock explosives through airport security checks 95% of the time.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson was especially angry with the findings and he sought a detailed briefing, which made US officials claiming to have already implemented some changes when it comes to the situation at hand. “Upon learning the initial findings of the Office of Inspector General’s report, Secretary Johnson immediately directed TSA to implement a series of actions, several of which are now in place, to address the issues raised in the report,” said the spokesperson for Department of Homeland Security when talking with ABC News. More than $540 million has been spent on improving security standards at national airports in the US in the last five years and the results have not been positive.
