In what can only be described as truly heartless, a 13 year old girl was the victim of a cruel Mother’s Day prank on a Cambodian TV show. Autumn Allen was invited on the Penh Chet Ort (Like It or Not), a talk and variety show for its Mother’s Day episode. The show’s producers reportedly told Autumn that her dream of finally meeting her mother would come true. According to People, “During the broadcast, Allen told the presenters her only memory of her mother, who stayed in the U.S. when her father took her to Cambodia about seven years ago: ‘She held me and kissed me and told me that she would always love me’

Unfortunately when the time came for the big reveal, instead of bringing out Autumn’s mother as promised, the show brought out its judge, cross-dressing comedian Chuop Rolin, instead. After the show aired, viewers took to social media to express their outrage for the insensitive prank. One Cambodian analyst even denounced the show’s producer as “stupid and brainless and heartless,” a sentiment that was shared by many who saw the show.

Autumn later responded to the outrage by thanking fans for their support and expressing that she had no hard feelings regarding the prank. The network later issued an apology which Allen shared on her Facebook page.
