Student Uses Fake Bomb For Promposal, Receives Suspension

A Washington high school student was suspended after using a fake strap-on bomb for his “promposal”. Not only did he believe the punishment was too harsh, but he also believed it “kind of felt racist“.

Ibrahim Ahmad wanted to ask Rilea Wolfe to prom, and did so by participating in a “promposal.” It’s a new trend among high schoolers to ask somebody out to prom in a unique way. Ahmad took it a step too far according to La Center High when he strapped a fake bomb vest around his waist and held up a sign that read, “I Know it’s A little Late, But I’m Kinda… THE BOMB! Rilea, Will U Be My Date To Prom?

Ahmad was hit with a five-day suspension that actually prevented him from going to prom over the weekend. According to the report, the two went to dinner instead.

The student felt that it wasn’t a big deal, and teachers were watching him create the sign. He also felt that the gesture was a little “racist” given his Middle Eastern background when he originally thought it would be funny. However, the faculty believed it needed to treat any threat to safety seriously, and Ahmad knew what he was getting into when doing the little skit.
