Small Children Becoming Most Devastating Gun Victims

While it’s often said that “guns don’t kill people, people kill people“, there is very little doubt that a three-year-old child isn’t forming the frame of mind to kill anyone. What can happen, when a child like this picks up a weapon, is an accident like the one that happened last weekend in Cleveland, Ohio. A three-year-old child found a pistol lying around the house he was visiting. He picked it up, pulled the trigger and ended up shooting and killing another child — an infant who was also in the house, according to Mamamia

While that incident was sad, it is unfortunately not that rare anymore. In Florida, earlier this year, two-year-old Kaleb Ahles found a gun laying in the family car where he had been left alone. His parents, not far away, heard a loud pop and rushed to the car, only to find that Kaleb had accidentally pointed the gun at his own chest and pulled the trigger. The family attempted CPR but there was nothing to be done for Kaleb.

In Missouri, the little boy picture above was just nine-months old when his five-year-old brother found a gun his family had left lying around. According to various reports, Corbin died when his brother was playing with the gun and accidentally shot and killed him. His brother, apparently unable to grasp what he had done, apologized and said he had shot Corbin. It seemed, at least he was more worried about being in trouble than realizing he’d killed his brother. Stories like this are popping up more and more every day. It doesn’t seem like the people are really doing the killings anymore. The guns appear to be the problem.
