Official Sizzler Cheese Bread Recipe Has Been Revealed!

Collins Food, the owner of 90’s icon restaurant chain Sizzler, announced earlier this week that most of the remaining restaurants in Australia will close due to a multi-million dollar hit to the profit margin.

The first Sizzler restaurant was opened in California in 1958 by founders Del and Helen Johnson, but the first Sizzler didn’t open in Australia until 1985. The first Australian restaurant opened in Brisbane, and 24 others followed. For just over a decade, and particularly in the 1990’s, it was incredibly popular, with Australian families flocking to the all-you-can-eat Salad Bar and Dessert Bar. The staple Cheese Bread and Potato Skins became national favorites.

Unfortunately, the profit margin has decreased radically in the past year in particular and Collins Food have decided to close a number of restaurants in the country, with a view to concentrating their efforts on the few that will remain. The remaining restaurants will be closely monitored to decide what will happen to them in the future.

There was a mixed reaction on social media by Australian diners, but the main response was “Before you go, leave us the Cheese Bread recipe!” and Sizzler, incredibly, have complied. Here is the official Australian Sizzler Cheese Bread recipe:

Ingredients

• Butter or margarine

• Kraft Parmesan Cheese

• Thick white bread

Steps

• In a bowl, mix equal parts butter or margarine with the Parmesan cheese to create a paste.

• Spread the paste on one side of the bread.

• Fry the bread paste side down over a medium heat until golden brown while resting a flat plate or lid on top so the bread steams.

• Eat the bread and think of happier times.
