Man With Michael Jackson Moves Dances At Baltimore Riots

What started as a peaceful protest turned into a riot, leaving Baltimore in disarray last Monday, April 27th. Rocks were thrown at police, cars and buildings burned, and local stores looted. Chaos all around and one man decided to head out to the streets — not to join the riot, but to break it with his Michael Jackson moves.

Dimitri Reeves, an entertainer and recording artist, was seen dancing on top of a bus, doing the moonwalk across North Avenue in Baltimore, and singing along to Michael Jackson hits. One that seems to resonate well with the protest is his performance of Beat It. The 1980’s hit was well known for the video it comes with portraying MJ breaking a fight and creating harmony between two rival gangs through music and dancing — making Reeves’ performance of it fitting for that day. “I just want to bring positivity and peace to the streets,” said Reeves in an interview with RT America.

Several clips of Reeves’s performance, including one captured by NBC’s Shomari Stone, have since made their rounds online. On Twitter, people expressed gratitude and praises for his effort to which he responded: “Thanks for all the support everyone just tryin’ to do my part as a Baltimore citizen STOP FIGHTING!
