Man Released After 4 Months Because Drug Bust Turned Out To Be Salt

Police within Australia are currently in the spotlight for imprisoning a man for a four-month period for possession of methamphetamine. The man has since been released, thankfully, as the crop of drugs was later discovered to have been salt instead of crystal meth. This is the type of tale you hear about in a bad crime movie – one of those films that is supposed to be about crime, but ends up being a comedy instead.

The unknown substance – which was said to be crystal meth – was found within the man’s vehicle in Queensland. The local police detained him for four months while they performed numerous forensic tests on the substance. The charges have since been dropped, as the test results proved it was nothing more than Epsom salt.

The length of the detainment was most likely due to the man having previous criminal convictions on his record, but it is still a bit of a blunder on the part of the police department – especially Queensland’s Health’s Forensic and Scientific Services.
