Man Kills His Four-Year-Old Daughter To Appease God
Nawab Ali Qureshi has admitted to killing his four-year-old daughter by slitting her throat as a sacrifice to Allah during Ramadan. Qureshi is said to have murdered his daughter, Rizwana, on Friday whilst reciting verses from the Koran.
Police officers in Jodhpur, in the north-west of India, said that Qureshi initially denied killing his daughter, and blamed her death on the family cat. He allegedly admitted to killing his daughter after his wife filed a murder report. Police said that Qureshi told them he had taken Rizwana to a local market earlier in the day to buy her sweets, before telling her that he “loved her very much.”
“I am a devout Muslim and love my daughter more than my life. For several days she was at her grandmother’s place and returned on Thursday. I took her to the marketplace and bought sweetmeats and fruits,” Qureshi said.
“In the night I took her to the courtyard downstairs, recited a kalima, killed her, and then went back to sleep upstairs,” he added.
Officers investigating the case told reporters that Qureshi said that the devil entered him. Rizwana’s lifeless body was found by her mother, Shabana, at approximately 3 a.m.
