Hilarious Interviews Show That American Idol’s Fanbase Isn’t What It Used To be

It’s no shock that people want to look as if they are in the know. Plenty of people will lie or go along with whatever they are being asked, just to appear as if they aren’t missing out. Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel is well aware of this, as he started his Lie Witness News series back in 2013 when he interviewed Coachella goers about bands that didn’t exist. Kimmel’s back at it again, with this edition about the American Idol finale.

This video was created in light of the fact that American Idol is ending in 2016 on its 15th season. The cancellation comes due to falling ratings and rising budget costs. Kimmel set to prove that people just don’t care about the show the way they used to. Though the finalist were named Clark Beckham and Nick Fradiani, Kimmel’s team created several ficticous names to share with people on the street. Not once were they corrected and, just as Kimmel believed, everyone went along with the fake names.
